I had a blast this morning with Captain Doug and the folks at Wilmington Water Tours, who took us all down the Cape Fear River to the site of the earliest Carolina settlement below the Albemarle, Charles Towne. The two-hour cruise which left just as Wilmington's Riverfest was getting started, was well attended by local history lovers, as well as one of my students from E.A. Laney High School!
